Nintendo Switch Lite.

A quick walkthrough to get a Switch Lite charged, online, and ready to play.

01 / SETUP

First boot

  1. Charge it first

Plug the USB-C cable into the bottom port. A full charge takes about 3 hours. The screen shows a battery icon while charging.

  2. Power on

Hold the power button on the top edge for two seconds. You'll see the Nintendo logo, then the Home screen.

  3. Connect to Wi-Fi

System Settings → Internet → Internet Settings. Pick your network and enter the password. Required for updates and the eShop.

  4. Sign in (or skip)

Use an existing Nintendo Account or create one for free. You can also skip and play offline-only games right away.

02 / ACCESSORIES

Optional add-ons

  1. microSD card

Power off, lift the kickstand area on the back, and insert. Supports up to 2TB. Recommended for digital game libraries.

  2. Case & screen protector

Worth picking up for any handheld used on the go. Tempered glass protectors are inexpensive and prevent scratches.

  3. Bluetooth audio

System Settings → Bluetooth Audio. Pair headphones directly without a dongle.

03 / FAST FIXES

If something's off

Won't charge
Try a different outlet and cable first. If still nothing, hold the power button for 12 seconds, release, then press power normally.
Frozen screen
Hold power for 12 seconds to force a hard reset. No save data is lost.
No sound
Check the volume buttons on top. If using headphones, unplug and replug — the jack can be finicky after long storage.
Joystick drift
System Settings → Controllers and Sensors → Calibrate Control Sticks. Common on used handhelds and usually fixable with calibration.
